NOTICE OF DISCLOSURE
The Government of Malawi is implementing Skills for a Vibrant Economy (SAVE) Project with support from the World Bank (International Development Association). SAVE is financed through a national resource envelope of US$100 million from International Development Association (hereinafter the Association) for a period of five years. The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to increase equitable access to market-relevant skills in priority areas of the economy, especially for females and vulnerable youth. The project consists of 4 Components which are; Component 1. Supporting public higher education institutions in increasing equitable access to market relevant skills development programs; Component 2 - Supporting Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training to increase equitable access to market relevant skills development; Component 3- Tertiary education student financing and system strengthening, project management, M&E and communications and Component 4- Contingency Emergency Response.
This notice therefore serves to notify interested and or affected persons/ parties and the general public of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and the Asbestos Management Plan, that were developed for the rehabilitation of the Malawi College of Distance Education (MCDE) regional office buildings in Area 3, Lilongwe, with support from the Skills for a Vibrant Economy (SAVE) project.

Project Background
The Government of Malawi through the Ministry of Education (MOE) is implementing a project called Improving Secondary Education in Malawi II (ISEM II) project with support from the European Union.
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide young people with more equitable opportunities for completing good quality secondary education and development skills. The ISEM II FA initiative encompasses three specific objectives (SOs):
1. Specific Objective 1 (SO1): Facilitate the equitable enrolment of students in secondary education.
2. Specific Objective 2 (SO2): Enhance the quality of secondary education.
3. Specific Objective 3 (SO3): Strengthen the governance and management of secondary education institutions at both central and decentralized levels.
To realize these objectives, the ISEM II FA initiative will use two government-implemented grants: i) A 4.3 million EUR grant dedicated to the soft component focused on quality and governance objectives. ii) A 40.5 million EUR grant allocated for hard component, including infrastructure and equipment.
Implementation of these grants has just started with a duration of 36 months.

The Ministry of Education is pleased to inform the general public that it has recruited and promoted 9,753 secondary school teachers at different grades. For more information, please refer to the list of the successful candidates.
RELEASE OF SELECTION LIST FOR IPTE 19 INTAKE
The Ministry of Education is pleased to release names of candidates who have been selected to undergo the 19th cohort of a two-year Initial Teacher Primary Education (IPTE 19) training program offered in the eleven (11) Public Teacher Training Colleges in Malawi.
All selected candidates are going to be boarders. The names of the selected candidates have been sent to all District Education Offices and all Principals of Public Teacher training Colleges in Malawi.
The Ministry is informing all the selected candidates to report to their respective colleges by 25th February, 2024, in readiness for classes that will commence on Monday, 26th February, 2024. The selected candidates are further informed that their places will be declared vacant if they do not report to their respective colleges by Monday, 11th March, 2024.
Furthermore, the Ministry is informing the selected candidates and the general public that completion of the two-year IPTE training program does not mean automatic recruitment by Government.
The selected candidates should bring the following items when reporting for the training:
1. National Identity Card
2. An original copy of Malawi School Certificate of Education
3. Beddings, bathing towels, soap, water buckets, plates, cups, spoons and forks.
4. Sports attire
5. Writing materials
6. MK75,000.00 as colleges fees which include tuition fees (MK5,000.00) and boarding fees (MK70,000.00)

The Government of the Republic of Malawi through the Ministry of Education has received offers of undergraduate scholarships for the 2024 academic year from the Government of the Republic of Mauritius through the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
