Honourable Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bright Msaka, SC, on Wednesday hosted fellow Education Ministers from across Africa for a ministerial breakfast meeting, marking the official start of Day One of the Africa Foundational Learning Exchange (FLEX 2026).

The breakfast meeting provided an opportunity for ministers to interact, strengthen partnerships, and exchange experiences on advancing foundational learning across the continent. Discussions focused on fostering collaboration and sharing innovative approaches to improve literacy, numeracy and learning outcomes for every child.

During the Wednesday session, delegates deliberated on key themes, including: Strengthening School Leadership for Foundational Learning in Africa and Whole-System Reform: Aligning Curriculum, Structured Pedagogy and Remediation at National Scale, among other topics aimed at accelerating learning across Africa.

More than 600 education leaders, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and practitioners from over 40 African countries have convened for the three-day event that will conclude on 17 July.
